Today at Modernism Week – 02.17.18

Welcome to the weekend, modernistas!   If you haven’t already planned out every moment of your day, read on for Saturday highlights and helpful tips on what to see and do today!



CAMP should be your first destination of the day.  Chef Eddie from F10 and Mr. Lyons and Top Chef Brooke Williamson cook in the Ferguson kitchen.  Don’t forget to test drive a gorgeous Alfa Romeo and register in-person at CAMP for a chance to win one!  Take your photo with Nelda Linsk, the fabulous Lady in Yellow from “Poolside Gossip” and don’t miss “(Re)introducing Ward Bennett,” a lecture presented by Herman Miller and Phaidon (free).


Today is the first day of the annual Palm Springs Modernism Show and Sale ($20).  This year also marks the debut of the Palm Springs Modern Design Expo too ($20)!  Stop by the Convention Center to shop till you drop, modernistas!  Then head next door to the Palm Spring Art Fair to see the presentation honoring Andy Moses, Artist of the Year.


You can still get tickets at the door for the following home tours:  Modernism Week Showcase Home: Modern Moroccan ($40), Modernism Week Showcase Home: Maison a l’Orange ($30), Sagewood: A  Donald Wexler Tour ($50), A Day in Old Pompeii ($50), West Elm Pool House (free).  Also, be among the first to see the recently restored Hidden Frey: snag a ticket to the preview tour which is followed by the New Century Modernism conversation ($40).


Don’t miss (Re)Introducing Ward Bennett, presented by experts from Herman Miller which is now free and open to the public.  Enjoy the fresh air and take this Architectural Bike Ride, or head out to see the Miles C. Bates House designed by Walter White.  Also don’t forget to check out the Donald Wexler: An Architectural Legacy exhibition at the Palm Springs Library.


There are still a few seats left for the world premiere of the documentary “Albert Frey: Part One – The Architectural Envoy,” which debuts in Palm Springs on Sunday, February 18.  Join director Jake Gorst for a special VIP reception afterwards at the Hidden Frey, designed by Albert Frey ($125 including film).


Don’t miss the Modernism Week Keynote with Martyn Lawrence Bullard today, tickets available at the door ($20).  Today is the second of three days of Atomic Ranch seminars at CAMP, with today’s talk focusing on interior design ($45). Check out all lectures and presentations here.  In most cases, you can purchase tickets at CAMP or at the door for these events.
