Take a look at some of the highlights from this year’s Modernism Week Show House: The Christopher Kennedy Compound.
In 2019, the Christopher Kennedy Compound – the official Modernism Week Show House – returned to Modernism Week for the fifth year. The award-winning Palm Springs icon recruited an all-star crew of 14 designers from all over the US who helped Kennedy transform the house this year. Set on the golf course in the posh neighborhood of Indian Canyons, this spectacular 1962 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom, 3,600 square-foot property was rethought room-by-room. Each designer was assigned a different room with only one directive, to create an environment that feels contemporary, sculptural and luxurious without being overtly retro or kitsch.
The home opened to the public on Friday, February 15, and guests were invited to mix and mingle with the designers while catching a first glimpse of their work.
Traditional Home and California Home + Design presented the Modernism Week Show House 2019: The Christopher Kennedy Compound, which was created to raise funds for Modernism Week’s programming and preservation efforts.
This quintessential remodel paid respect to the modernist property’s architectural pedigree while updating it with the best and brightest materials in modern design.
